Sandakan Ranau Death March – An experience and journey that can never be forgotten

The Re-enactment of the Death March

In August 2005, the Sabah Society (TSS), the oldest NGO in Sabah, organized the first Sandakan-Ranau Death March to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the actual march at the end of World War II. Mr. Tham Yau Kong of TYK Adventure Tours, an outstanding trekking expert assisted the Society’s commemorative march from Sandakan to Ranau. Tham and his team helped retrace the POW trail at the famous 260-kilometer death march in remembrance of soldiers who lost their lives and paid homage to the locals who risked their lives to help them.
