East Coast of Sabah is Safe 15th March 2011 | |
| On behalf of the Sabah Tourism Board we wish to assure our partners and visitors from all over the world that Sabah and the east coast of Sabah, including the various dive destinations of Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai, Mataking, Padanan, and Langkayan islands are safe. While we respect the US Embassy's concern about undesirable elements in the southern Philippines, we wish to assure that for the past several years, the Malaysian Government dedicatedly installed armed security personnel to ensure the safety of Malaysians and tourists on islands in the east coast of Sabah.
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin informed that the Malaysia armed forces is patrolling and monitoring the waters off the east coast of Sabah and there is no need to fear. He stressed that steps are taken to monitor and control the sea borders. Malaysian Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the country's security forces are working closely with intelligence agencies in neighbouring countries to safeguard its borders against incursions by any armed groups into Malaysian and Sabah water. He said Malaysian security forces are in full alert, he added: I want to assure all tourists and people living in islands in Sabah's east coast that they should not be worried for the safety". The Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Aman also reiterated that the Sabah east coast is safe. We look forward to welcoming all our guests. | |
