Pre-Show of the National Symphony Orchestra at Jesselton Point

Kota Kinabalu, 30th April 2008: Audiences can enjoy a 45-minute sneak preview of the National Symphony Orchestra (NS0) at Jesselton Point this 8th May at 5.30pm for FREE. This will give audiences a taste of what is to come during the full concert for two nights which will take place at the Recital Hall in UMS, Kota Kinabalu from 9 – 10 May 2008 at 8pm.
NSO is known for its classical performances; however audiences here can expect to enjoy a combination of both classical and contemporary favourites such as a few pieces from Mozart which includes Don Giovanni Overture and Symphony no.25 in G minor. KOTA KINABALU 29th April 2008: Sabah''s very own Kinabalu Merdu Sound will perform at Penang''s second World Music Festival on the 4th-5th May this year. This unique band that plays Sabahan ethnic music with bamboo musical instruments will be one of the 11 international and 4 local bands performing at this music festival which is expected to attract more than 5000 international and local traditional music fans.

Japanese-Speaking Service Frontliners Needed In Sabah, Says Consul-General

KOTA KINABALU, April 16 (Bernama) -- Japanese tourists want
service industry frontliners in Sabah to be conversant in Japanese
language to assist them to get by in the state.
Consul-General of Japan Koichi Morita said Japanese tourists coming to
Sabah had expressed concern over the lack of Japanese-speaking service
providers.
"Language barrier had posed problems for them to get around. Maybe
we would like to suggest to have more Japanese language courses for
locals here, especially to those involved in the service industry like
hotels, tourist spots and shopping centres. This will not only help

KINABALU, 16 April 2008: While the Sabah Fest 2008 performance
nights will be a presentation of Sabah’s inheritance of song and dance, the
Sabah Fest Exhibition also held on the 3rd and 4th is set
to feature Sabah’s ethnic recipes, craft creations and traditional
therapies.
More
than twenty booths, comprising craft stalls, traditional food, spas and batik retailers
will be at the Magellan Grand Ballroom from 10.00am to 10.00pm
to enrich the Sabah Fest 2008 experience. This exhibition is open to the members of the

National Symphony Orchestra Tour Concert in Kota Kinabalu

The prestigious
National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) will assemble for a two-day concert
performance at the Recital Hall in UMS, Kota Kinabalu from 9 – 10 May 2008
under the direction of Resident Conductor Mustafa Fuzer Nawi.
The performances
will entertain audiences with an assortment of classical harmonies such as the
Tchaikovsky Symphony no.4 op.36 and Henri Wieniawski’s Legende op.17.
