Sabah Annual ART Selection 2009

The Sabah Annual Art Selection is a prestigious event which is held annually by the Sabah Art Gallery since 1985. The selection comprises of three categories, namely Category A (lower secondary), Category B (upper secondary) and Category C (open category). The selected artworks will receive prizes totaling RM45,000 which will be announced during the award ceremony to be held in October in conjunction with the Tuan Yang Terutama's (T.Y.T) birthday celebrations this year.

Sipadan Island made it to the top 11 of the island category to qualify into the next round of the New 7 Wonders of Nature Campaign, an online campaign organized by the Switzerland-based New7Wonders Foundation, according to Sabah Tourism Board today. The campaign started with 430 nominations from 224 countries, competing in 7 categories namely Landscapes (Ice Formations), Islands, Mountains (Volcanoes), Caves (Rock Formations, Valleys), Forest (National Parks, Nature Reserves), Lakes (Rivers, Waterfalls), and Seascape.
