Promoting Eastern Sabah to China

Kota Kinabalu,28 Feb 2019: To further promote the East Coast of Sabah to China, Sabah Tourism Board collaborated with Malaysia Airlines Shanghai bringing in seven key agents from Shanghai and Nanjing including two online travel agency (OTA), namely Ctrip and Tuniu for a familiarization trip to Sandakan.

Main attractions visited by the group were Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, Agnes Keith House, Puu Jih Shih Temple, Lankayan Island, Tam Kung Temple and the Wishing Tree which is located near to the temple.

STB Board member, Seth Quek who met up with the group said “Sandakan is a nature-based destination and known for its historical heritage. By introducing attractions in Sandakan to the agents, they are able to provide more variety of Sabah tour packages to sell to their guests, giving visitors choices of attraction that they can explore beyond Kota Kinabalu.”

The agents also had the opportunity to meet up with the Sandakan Tourism Association (STAN) members during a dinner hosted by STB.
