Sheraton Hotel coming to Sandakan

SANDAKAN: Four-star Sheraton Hotel will be built at the Sandakan Harbour Square.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor yesterday performed the earth-breaking ceremony for the joint venture project between the Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC) and Ireka Chang Sdn Bhd (ICSD).

Hajiji, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, said the 255-room hotel under Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels, would be the centre of tourist attraction and business opportunities.

It would provide 1,000 parking bays and 200 shops when completed next year.

The minister also witnessed the signing ceremony for a RM249.5 million-syndicated credit facility between OCBC Berhad/Maybank Berhad and ICSD Ventures Sdn Bhd.

Tai Ai Chin and Ong Ong Eng Bin represented OCBC Berhad while Hamzah Bachee represented Maybank Berhad at the signing ceremony.

ICSD was represented by its directors Kenneth Tiong and Monica Lai.
