SANDAKAN: The newly launched Kinabatangan Corridor of Life Tourism Operators Association (KiTA) seeks to play a role in environmental conservation in Kinabatangan.

Association president Alexander Yee said eight tourism operators had joined the association and seven more would do so soon.

The association, set up last month, was launched yesterday in Kampung Bilit, Kinabatangan, by Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.

Yee said the objectives of KiTA included introducing best practices in the management of natural assets and playing a proactive role in conservation programmes.

“Other objectives included observing a code of ethics when bringing tourists to see wildlife and assuming social responsibility in environmental conservation in Kinabatangan,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
