KOTA KINABALU: Whenever Hari Raya Aidilfitri comes, the busiest place would be the bus terminal where people rush there to buy their ticket to go back to their hometowns.According to a ticketing staff at Delima Zamrud Ekspress, their tickets are adequate until the last operation on Sept 9 at 9am. “Prices are still the same as previous years and for safety, we always check each bus before it leaves the station,” she said to reporters at the bus terminal in Inanam yesterday. Meanwhile, another worker of the same company, Arbain Bacho, 25, said they provide services from Kota Kinabalu-Lahad Datu-Tawau. “So far, the response from commuters is good and we have received a lot of ticket bookings,” said Arbain, adding that during this Hari Raya, the busiest hours are between 3pm and 5pm. Another bus operator, Sairah Express, said they have adequate buses for Hari Raya with more than 10 buses operating until their last day before Hari Raya on Sept 9 at 8pm. Its clerk, Johariah Samad, 33, said ticket price remain the same as last year and they ply the Sandakan-Lahad Datu-Tawau route. Meanwhile, the manager of Sipitang Express, who operates at the Kota Kinabalu court house, said compared to last year, this year is better. “Our ticketing system is computerised and we have bookings from our customers,” said Koh, 50. Koh said the company has 10 buses but on Hari Raya, the bus service may be reduced as several drivers are on leave. “We will not stop operating, even during Hari Raya and don’t worry, ticket price for Menumbok-Kota Kinabalu-Sipitang-Limbang-Lawas-Brunei is still the same,” he said. Koh added that their buses are safe as they are 80 per cent new. Moreover, they have their own workshop to maintain the buses.
