Firefly would not impact parent company, says MAS chief

KOTA KINABALU: A move by its subsidiary company Firefly to offer flights between the city and Kuala Lumpur is unlikely to impact Malaysia Airlines (MAS), said company chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Seri Aznil Zaharuddin. He said Firefly services enabled MAS as an airline to offer a variety of products catering to the different needs of travellers. "There are those who want to travel on a full service flight and they can take MAS. KUALA LUMPUR: Former Information and Tourism Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, has urged the government to develop the areas around Kinabalu Park and Gunung Kinabalu. Malaysia keen to have Maliau Basin on Unesco's heritage listing

Maliau Basin : Malaysia is very keen to list Sabah's Lost World, the Maliau Basin, as a Unesco World Heritage Site. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in endorsing the state government's proposal, said that a world heritage listing will bring attention and interest to the 58,400ha untouched tropical rainforest which is only slightly smaller than Singapore. He said the listing of Mount Kinabalu National Park, George Town and Malacca, and the Gunung Mulu National Park had brought prominence to these natural and historically important sites.
