Berungus Hidden Myths

Berungus is a small fishing village at the tip of Marudu Bay Peninsula, in the remote district of Pitas.  This village is also located within Malaysia’s biggest marine park, Tun Mustapha Park. It will take about 5 hours journey from Kota Kinabalu to the nearby access of the village and another short boat ride is needed to get to this hidden land.

Fishing is a favourite pastime for Berungus residents. You should look forward to catching jawfish or called ‘moong’. Take the opportunity to learn and use a special technic to catch this burrowing fish during low tide and thus make you deserve a bragging right to say you did it the native way!
