Visit the world’s smallest Sun Bear at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center at Sepilok, adjacent to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. The centre opened in 2014 and aims to increase public awareness and release back into the forest individuals which can be rehabilitated or are still “wild”. To date, there are about 44 rescued ex-captive sunbears residing at the centre. The centre is equipped with key facilities including an observation platform, boardwalk and a visitor centre.
A visit to the centre is a must when in Sandakan, these bears are too adorable to resist! If you’d like to do more, you can find out how, here.
