Tenom is situated approximately 145 kilometres away from the state capital and is unofficially the capital and hometown of the Murut ethnic. The Murut community there would usually hold their annual Kalimaran festival in Tenom. Tenom is also famous for it’s coffee. The coffee industry is the second largest contributor to the economy of Tenom after the rubber industry. Visitors may use the Sabah State Railway train to travel to Tenom from Kota Kinabalu.
