Air ASIA REINSTATES KOTA KINABALU – TAIPEI FLIGHTS

KOTA KINABALU, 13 December 2022 – AirAsia, the World’s best Low Cost Airline for 13 years in a row, resumed its much sought-after direct route to Kota Kinabalu from Taipei on 10 December with an exciting activation at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA). Flight AK1511 from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) landed at KKIA and was greeted with a welcoming ceremony as well as a water cannon salute to celebrate the long awaited resumption of this route.This comes after Taipei reopened its borders to international travelers and lifted its mandatory COVID-19 quarantine restrictions for arrivals.Noredah Othman, CEO of Sabah Tourism Board said: “We’re delighted to announce that we’ve exceeded our total target for arrivals this year, but we’re still far from being done! With this reinstatement, we hope to welcome more frequent independent travelers (FITs) and incentive group travelers from Taipei. The increasing demand for flights between Taipei and Kota Kinabalu is a clear reflection of Sabah’s growing popularity as a preferred destination for North Asian travelers.
