STB Giving RM20,000 Tourism Research Grant

KOTA KINABALU, 21 October 2021: Sabah Tourism Board is inviting researchers who are currently conducting or supervising research in Tourism, particularly in Sabah to apply for the Sabah Tourism Grant. A total of RM20,000 is offered per study to selected applicants.

“The grants are intended to offer researchers the opportunity to contribute to the development of the State’s tourism industry. Areas of interest for the study to be conducted are Mantanani Island, Mabul Island, Kiulu and Kadamaian.”

“It is our hope that this grant would benefit and encourage more studies to be done on areas such as tourism, which is one of the 3 main trusts in the Sabah Maju Jaya roadmap. We believe the findings from these studies are beneficial in helping the state to create a holistic approach in improving the socioeconomic impact of the local communities as well as the environmental implication through tourism initiatives”, commented YB Datuk Jafry Ariffin, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah.

“Surveys and data are vital in many industries, including tourism. We trust that the findings from these studies would assist us to assess the current situations and provide better insight and understanding to formulate better planning and strategies that will attract more visitors. This is in line with our effort to rejuvenate the industry in the wake of interstate travel and in our preparation for the international border to be opened again”, explains Puan Noredah the Chief Executive Officer of Sabah Tourism Board.
